I sure do love landscape paintings. Someday I'd like a house filled with them.

I've got some exciting new and vintage pieces for brooches, I get so excited looking at all this stuff together. I'm going to update my store with a few new brooches tomorrow, the rest when I get back to Portland.

Drawn in my sketchbook the other night, lyrics jumped out at me from an old-timey song I was listening to

Cloud Forest

Last week I took a little road trip to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens. They have a huge glasshouse representing the Costa Rican rainforst, which is fantastic. It's full of birds and butterflies, and they have a walkway that goes right into the treetops. I highly recommend making a visit if you live in the area.

This weekend I'm in a show opening at Tinlark Gallery in LA. They invited back some artists who have showed with them in the past and sent the artists 6x6 panels that we were free to do whatever we wanted with.

Treasures

I found some real treasures this weekend at an antique sale! This beautiful little box for storing pen nibs, and the most wonderful photo album. I love old photos of course but usually I don't buy them because I just don't know what to do with them, but this I could not pass up. It is very small, and contains photos of the most adorable family from the 20's: The woman who put it together (calls herself "yours truly" in photos), her mother, father, and I think a brother or two. They just look so happy and most of the photos have teeny tiny detailed descriptions written under them, which makes this find just golden.

My favorite photo captioned "Yours Truly" then in very very very tiny writing upside down above that "had the time of my life this night in this dress".

The Working Proof

I'm exited to tell you that my print was released yesterday on Working Proof!
Working Proof is great website that pairs artists with the charity of their choice then releases a print by that artist to benefit the charity. 15% of the proceeds from my print will be going to Puppies Behind Bars. I heard about Puppies Behind Bars a little while ago on NPR and was moved by what I heard, so I'm very excited to be able to help them out in a little way. I hope you'll go read about what they're doing and buy a print if you feel inspired!
