Moroccan Preserved Lemons

Thanks to a family friend I had more lemons than I knew what to do with so my friend Sarah and I decided to have had a lemon preserving adventure the other day, using this recipe. I hope they turn out, the recipe is so simple that I'm sceptical.

In progress

This might be a promo postcard. I don't know, I tend to over design things in a hard-to-read way so I have to get some second opinions.

Finds

A few weekends ago I had some great luck at the antique store. I've been wanting a clock case for a while, now I just have to find the perfect thing to put in it!

Recharge

I had a lovely day today at the Portland Classical Chinese Garden, did some recharging after a stressful week and enjoyed some of the beautiful weather. They have a nice little teahouse there, I had jasmine green and a mooncake with redbean filling.

Stary Visions

This happens all the time: I started the top drawing first but didn't like how it was coming, so I put it aside and started the bottom drawing, which is closer to my original idea. Then I went back to the first drawing and since I sort of didn't care about it I felt more free to try things, and now I like it better.

Little friends are popping up all over the place.

I wanted also to let you know that I added a bunch of brooches to my shop recently.

Fox Fence

I got myself this treat last week: a book about the making of The Fantastic Mr. Fox, wonderful pictures and details.

We've had some fine sunny warm days recently, I went a few times to the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. The gardens are still a little quiet but there are ducks everywhere. I took this picture after some guy ran at this flock of about a hundred ducks and they all flew away! It was really exciting.

Also I wanted to let you know that the fantastic blog Pikaland is giving away a set of my Mechanical Animal paperdolls to help promote my new shop! If you've been wanting a set you should go to Pikaland and leave a comment by Feb. 16th!. If you miss out on them don't worry, they will always be at my big cartel shop from now on!

Thanks all for the comments and feedback on the last post!

I'm not sure what but something about this drawing isn't working for me.

Back

I arrived safely back in Portland a few days ago and have been settling in and setting things to rights. It is definitely spring here and it feels so good to take walks outside again. Things are so green and it has inspired me to fill my room with tulips and tiny daffodils. I also finally bought a staghorn fern (I've wanted one for ages), I think they are so elegant.

I'm crazy about this new Anthro catalog, I have a thing for circus imagery.

Also! I update my big cartel store with three new prints, including this one!
