Rebranding...Myself

I've actually never had an official logo for myself and since I've been working on so many logos for other people lately I decided it was time to make a fresh one for myself! (I guess this is a logotype if you want to get technical)

I''d been using this as my shop header and I guess it was kind of my logo, but it's a few years old and looks really messy to me now. More pertinent right now for me though is I really wanted to make a logo that incorporated my name.  I've been wanting to leave the Oh My Cavalier name behind for a while because I want my work to be associated with ME and my name rather than credited to a business or company. I'm tired of coming across drawings of mine on Pinterest etc credited to Oh My Cavalier, like they were made by committee or something. (It's totally my fault because my website etc, pretty much all my places on the web are called Oh My Cavalier, something I'm also trying to change now)

It's super hard to design for myself, because I can't make decisions, so I may tweak this design a bit but overall I'm happy with it. It incorporates my name and also my initials, so if I want I can use the whole design as a letterhead or just use the little leaf part as a stamp or watermark.

Why a leaf and not keep a fox for the logo? Well I don't know, it just felt like the right change. Plus I really love the design of this antique trade card.

Hummingbird Friends

My hummingbird feeder has gone from being totally shunned to being the popular neighborhood feeder that has fierce battles fought over it. The secret is making the food myself instead of buying a mix, it's so much cheaper and they like it so much better! The feeder is right by my window where I work and they peer at me suspiciously while they eat. I had to sneak up to get this picture. Some random plant and moth drawings on scrap paper.

 I wanted to let you know that I've still got a few bowls left from my collaboration last year with Paloma's Nest and I've decided to offer free shipping on those. Get em while you can!

Work For Others: Recent Wedding Invite

I'm so excited I can finally share this latest wedding invite that I did a few months ago! It's my favorite yet I think. They asked me if I could do a portrait for the front, which I was nervous about since I am in no way a portrait artist, but I'm really pleased with how it turned out. (They asked that some info be blurred for privacy)


Once again I just did the artwork and they took care of the printing themselves. At some point I would like to take on figuring out the printing as well and really design and create a full wedding suite. It would be a ton of work but I think it would be fun and interesting.

 It really is nice working on wedding invites, it's basically working on something that's celebrating love, happiness, and hope for a few weeks and that always leave me with a good feeling.

Matcha Monday

I haven't done an all pencil drawing in a while. It seemed right for this one since I wanted the tea to pop. I love the color (and taste obviously) of matcha green tea.

 (Incidentally this is a good tumblr if you like to ogle drinks and treats made with matcha)

Randomness

Someone commissioned me to do some fairy themed children's party invitations a few years ago. Then they completely disappeared, so I feel okay sharing these initial sketches with you. It's funny how often people think of me when they want fairies drawn, I actually never draw fairies on my own! I wouldn't have minded continuing with this project though. I think some serious tea drinking and grudgingly celebrating fairy party invites would be great, but oh well!
